Launch report 2008
The NucSIG Steering Group wish to thank the 90 plus members who joined one of the three launch events, held in Cumbria, Merseyside and London in July 2008.

Many thanks to the Vienna based QA expert Pal Vincze of the International Atomic Energy Authority (IAEA) who gave a much appreciated presentation which explained the role of the IAEA and introduced the new management system standard GS-R-3 which requires an integrated, process-based response by nuclear installations for their safety management systems.

The NucSIG Steering Group also wishes to thank the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Nuclear Directorate, the CQI and the MoD Defence, Equipment and Support group for their generous hospitality and support for the events in providing venues and speakers.

The events included a workshop through which members could steer the Steering Group, which now has much valuable input to help it shape the future plan. The input is still being analyzed but the clear message that emerged from all three events was that SIG members would like to focus on best practice sharing, benchmarking, training and CPD.
