The Governance Working Group (GWG) was originally formed to advise the Board of Trustees regarding a suitable governance structure for the CQI. The role has developed into a standing committee to address and advise the Board on detail matters of governance, particularly:
- To maintain an overview of CQI governance policies, procedures and practices with respect to the Institute’s Royal Charter and Bye-laws, and UK legislation (particularly that concerning charities)
- To develop, review and otherwise advise the Board on matters relating to Institute Regulations
- To advise the Board on matters which the Board wishes to be advised
- To maintain an overview of the Institute's management of risk.
The GWG is directly accountable to the CQI Board for those duties delegated to it and has an advising and reporting responsibility to the Board.
