World Quality Day 2009: a great success

Today (12 November) is the 20th World Quality Day and this year’s events have been more successful than ever before.
Date: 12 November 2009

To celebrate World Quality Day, CQI events have taken place all over the country in the week leading up to World Quality Day. Sponsored by NQA, this year’s World Quality Day campaign was supported by a range of organisations including Téléfonica O2, 3M and the Met Office.

The pinnacle of the celebrations was a joint event with Sellafield on 11 November. The CQI and Sellafield event attracted more than 1,200 CQI members and Sellafield employees who attended presentations from 24 prominent speakers on quality including John Oakland, John Seddon and Olivier Mythodrama.

Vince Desmond, CQI director of business development, said: ‘The event was a huge success, with attendees travelling from all over the country.

‘There were many opportunities for networking with like-minded quality professionals and the chance to hear some of the country’s most interesting speakers on quality. It was an excellent celebration of what quality can bring to any organisation.

‘The CQI would like to thank Sellafield for hosting the event and we look forward to working together again in the future.’

Events have also been taking place around the world, hosted by organisations to celebrate the day and promote quality. Organisations include Coca Cola, Panasonic Avionics Corporation and William Grant and Sons Ltd.

World Quality Day was first established by the UN in 1990 to increase worldwide awareness of the important contribution that quality makes to organisations worldwide.
