Quality can help us 'out of the crisis'

The Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) is using World Quality Day (Thursday 11 November 2010) to highlight how quality approaches can stimulate economic recovery.

Date: 04 November 2010

In October the Office for National Statistics GDP figures revealed the UK’s slow progress to growth. The CQI argues that the widespread introduction of quality techniques could help deliver much needed efficiencies and improvement across the business, public and voluntary sectors and help achieve the necessary public spending cuts.

By examining and refining organisational systems, quality techniques are proven to deliver better organisational processes that prioritise innovation and ensure customer-focused outcomes, building more robust, sustainable and cost-effective organisations.

The CQI’s 10,000 quality professional members are organising events across the globe to mark World Quality Day and to draw attention to the many benefits that quality techniques, implemented by the quality profession, can bring.

Simon Feary, CQI CEO, said:

“We’re delighted that World Quality Day is becoming such an important event in the calendar. All over the globe, organisations and governments are waking up to the vital role that quality management and its profession can perform in restoring organisational development and international competitiveness.

“From the knowledge economy to green jobs, quality management is the passport to economic growth. We hope that World Quality Day can help to stimulate an international debate on how quality management systems can bring about improvement and recovery.”

Themed, “Out of the Crisis”, the CQI led World Quality Day 2010 celebrations and events are planned to take place from Scotland to Kent and Nigeria to the United Arab Emirates.
