The Chartered Quality Institute

Result re-calculation request

The CQI has comprehensive procedures and policies for all its Examiners on marking of examination scripts and moderation of assignments, with checks at different stages to eliminate a possibility of a mistake. We also have internal procedures for transferring the results onto a database and printing of the results, which means that it is highly unlikely that the result you receive is erroneous.

However, you do have a right to request an arithmetical re-calculation of your result, if you have a reason to believe that there is an inaccuracy in the way the marks were added up, or not all sections were viewed and marked by the Examiner. Please note that this is a purely clerical procedure that does not involve any re-assessment.

What you can do

Please write to us within two weeks from the date of your result letter requesting to check the arithmetical accuracy of the result. Please enclose a cheque for the amount listed in the fees section and address your letter to CQI Education, 12 Grosvenor Crescent, London SW1X 7EE.

What we will do

The CQI Education will write to you to confirm the receipt of your request within five working days and will inform you at the same time what the result of the arithmetical check is.

In the unlikely event that an error is detected, we will send the examination script for re-calculation to an Examiner. Please note that the Examiner will not re-assess your paper and only check any unmarked sections and carry out necessary calculations. In such cases your mark can go up as well as down depending on the result. You will be informed of the outcome within 10 working days. We will also return your fee.
