About the event

This event provides an introduction to quality management and has been designed so that delegates with no previous exposure to quality will gain from the event as well as those delegates who may have had some significant experience.

The event covers some of the basic questions such as 'why use quality management?' 'why it is important to understand customer needs and expectations' and how to go about business improvement.

Although this event is not focussed on ISO 9001 or the Excellence Model both of these models are touched on and so is the CQI's Small Business Standard. This latter standard is specifically designed for small businesses embarking on the quality journey and comes with a business evaluator, both freely downloadable from www.thecqi.org, to help the small business assess where they are in relation to this standard.

An optional session on 'The Value of Organisational Culture and the Role of Competencies' is included for delegates interested in how people and organisational culture can support the drive to meet customer needs and expectations.

Structure of the event

About 80% of the time during this event is devoted to presentations by the event tutor and the remainder of the time is devoted to discussion lead by the event tutor.
