Quality Manager

Business Context
Eaton Powerware are a leading supplier of Power connectivity solution to the EMEA and North American Markets. Eaton seeks an experienced and energetic Quality Manager to be responsible for products, processes and systems including HS&E and Operational Excellence.
Key responsibilities:
- To provide first line support (contact point) for Quality concerns at the customer base where there is an issue over the quality of Eaton supplied products
- Ensure Quality Planning in process is implemented and suitable follow up via audit together with close out of any corrective actions
- Manage the process to obtain and continually improve Eaton Business System (EBS) requirements
- To be responsible for the Supplier Quality function including visits as appropriate and reduce cost of non-conformance (CONC) in line with company targets while proactively recovering costs
- Take responsibility for ISO system at the Eaton manufacturing unit including reviews as appropriate and documentation control therein.
- Manage HS&E system requirements and procedure maintenance as required.
- Lead countermeasure activity where problems occur
- Ensure non-conforming product is analysed and advised to the factory in order that corrective actions can be implemented in a timely manner.
- Manage the Quality Engineering personnel to generate optimum commercial quality performance
- Support supplier selection and maintenance through appropriate QA tools.
- Accurately maintained data for supplier, internal and customer quality data available on request
Person Specification:
- Minimum 3 years in a responsible QA role
- Relevant QA Qualification preferably degree educated.
- Practical, hands on problem solver who understands electrical product application
- Knowledge of quality planning techniques e.g FMEA and application therein
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Able to build relationships at all levels (operator through to management).
- Makes self available.
- Good administration skills and timely approach to document generation/control. Able to manage large scale
- Enthusiastically takes action ensuring loop between problem analysis and corrective action is closed.
- Participates in New Product Introduction activity effectively
- Proactively provides proposals for cost reduction
- Prepared to stop the line or stop shipments to ensure problems are dealt with in a timely and effective manner
- Able to make a contribution to the management team in general business matters
- Prepared to travel periodically
Performance Indicators
- Quantifiable reduction in both internal and external quality concerns to company targets
- Reduction in CONC to company targets
- Manages ISO9001 system and any subsequent systems, including EBS and HS&E, ensuring safe accreditation to schedule and aligning the systems to meet the needs of the business
- Manages people development (probation, return to work, appraisal, training etc) in line with HR process.
