Quality Manager

Surface Technology International is a market leading, contract electronics manufacturer, specialising in the design, procurement, assembly and repair of advanced technology, performance critical circuit boards and components for the aerospace, military, oil exploration and medical sectors.

Sti seeks an experienced and energetic Quality Manager to coordinate the efforts of the Quality team and provide the focal point for all quality matters. The role reports to the Managing Director with a direct line to the Operations Director

1. Responsibilities:

  • Identify product specific quality features prior to a build and ensure that the necessary instructions, controls and measures are in place to meet the customer specification.
  • Represent Sti on all quality matters and liaise with the customer to resolve any issues effectively
  • Ensure that the company remains compliant with ISO 9001:2000 through internal auditing and feedback to the management team. Assist the Directors with the preparation of the Company Manual.
  • Coordinate all activities relating to the company's objective of obtaining AS9100 approval.
  • Take direct managerial responsibility for the company Quality Engineers and Final Inspectors.
  • Collect, report and review quality metrics as per business requirements and initiate corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Ensure that responses are sent back to customers in a professional and timely manner.
  • Identify and participate in continuous improvement activities in areas such as process control, training, work instructions, operator awareness, tooling, etc.
  • Provide a focal point for the Inspection team in terms of guidance, support and arbitration.

2. Personal Qualities:

  • Experienced in electronics manufacture with an emphasis on the requirements of the aerospace industry.
  • Experienced working jointly with a customer in a Quality role
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Able to manage multiple, conflicting priorities and deadlines. Attention to detail
  • Team working - works cooperatively within a team and uses the specialist technical knowledge and resources of colleagues to achieve working solutions
