Process mapping and procedures

One of the essentials of quality management is the requirement to map processes and produce procedures. A variety of techniques can be used, which include flow charting, swim lines, by use of proprietary software packages, or text procedures in particular layouts and formats. Procedures will be held in manuals and expositions (as appropriate). The analysis of processes and the development of procedures is a skill that requires experience and understanding of all the underlying business objectives and best practices, as well as the practices and routines to be followed at work floor level.
