IQA appoints new President

The Institute of Quality Assurance (IQA) has appointed Jim Speirs as its new President. Jim has been a committed member of IQA for over 30 years, in which time he held the position of chairman of the IQA qualifications board and been an active IQA council member.

Jim's response to his appointment is sanguine: 'It is a great honour to be elected President of the IQA and to follow in the footsteps of distinguished predecessors. I look forward to working with Frank Steer and his team to achieve IQA's objectives and enhance its position as a force for the enhancement of quality.'

Jim has extensive executive experience in the quality industry. He is currently director general of the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC), a UKAS accredited certification body. Prior to this role Jim was the managing director of the National Quality Association (NQA). Jim has also been chairman of the Association of British Certification Bodies (ABCB).
