EOQ elects the 'European Quality Leader of the year 2002'
The European Organization for Quality (EOQ) has launched a new European project - 'European Quality Leader of the year'. Following the huge success of European Quality week, EOQ decided that to supplement the events taking place across Europe, it would be valuable to recognise those people with outstanding knowledge of quality. Hence the emergence of the election of a 'European Quality Leader'.
Being a Quality leader signifies that an individual has the ability to be a manager and a leader, with skills required to introduce transformation within the organisation in order to allow it to adapt to new challenges and new environments, whilst retaining existing quality concepts and techniques.
This year EOQ is very proud to announce the best quality leader in Europe for 2002 is Dr Nickolas B. Vitantzakis - born in 1951 in Piraeus, he speaks Greek, French and English fluently. He has a Doctorate Degree with a PhD in Organization and Business Administration from the University of Caen France.
He is an expert in the International Telecommunications Union, specialising in subjects related to re-organization, quality and the application of operational processes. Nickolas was also a founding member and Vice President of the Hellenic Quality Forum. Since 1997, he has been an alternate national representative of Greece, within the European Foundation for Quality Management and European Organization for Quality.
Career history:
- Lecturer in Management at the Hellenic Open University
- Executive Director of OTE International Investments Ltd
- Director of the Organization Department of the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization
- Advisor to the Republic of Cyprus in planning and implementing the System for the performance appraisal of the public services of Cyprus
- Scientific advisor of international long term programs, in subjects related to the application of Total Quality to industry and services
- Scientific collaborator with Hellenic National Public Management Center and Research Center of the University of Piraeus
Awards and achievements:
- Honoured for his work relating to the application of quality in Greek Organizations and companies
- In 2001 received an honourable distinction relating to Quality, for his long and continuous presence in Total Quality Management
- In 2002 was selected as the first National Quality Leader of the year by the Hellenic Management Association
- Author of: Practical Administration: 30 special case studies, Personnel Recruitment - Methods, Techniques, Processes, From European Quality to Quality on Europe and Innovative processes and production techniques in small and medium size businesses
