Construction Industry Excellence Recognised

The Construction industry could justifiably be said to have swept the board at the London Excellence Awards held last night - winning in five out of the ten categories that identify and celebrate exceptional initiatives in Quality standards.
Run by London Excellence in partnership with the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI), the London Excellence Awards invited entries from businesses across the UK who had to demonstrate clear business results from their application of quality initiatives and processes.
Management systems were highlighted in the prizes for Customer Focus (Kier Building Maintenance), Leadership (Gallions Housing Association) and Corporate Social Responsibility (Mott MacDonald) while Co-operative working practices were demonstrated in the Making Partnership Work Award (Gallions Housing Association and Axis Europe plc) and People Involvement and Development Award (Lakehouse Contracts Ltd).
The Awards consider initiatives that are based around the principles of the European Forum for Quality Management Excellence Model. More than 100 people drawn from a wide range of public and private sector organisations are involved in the assessment process, ensuring that these awards are recognised as being exceptionally rigorous.
Mike Debenham, CQI Executive Director of Policy and Professional Affairs, said: "To win their awards, the construction industry representatives had to compete with organisations across all industry sectors and it is heartening to see a sector, which so often receives critical press attention, illustrating the success of its clear commitment to quality."
The London Excellence Awards recognise organisations that have worked towards achieving truly exceptional performance.
