Management systems training

The CQI is able to deliver management systems courses covering awareness, implementation and both internal and external auditing related to established, revised and new ISO standards as listed below:

  • Quality management systems (ISO 9001:2008)
  • Food safety management systems (ISO 22000: 2005)
  • Automotive industry quality management systems (ISO/TS 16949:2002)

Statistical sampling and process control

The CQI is able to design required courses on statistical sampling schemes and process control as per ISO and BS standards and to suit different processes and activities.

Managing internal audits to add value

This course concentrates on the audit process within the organization, as a process that adds value. The course is designed to ensure that the delegates obtain an understanding of how their organization audit process can be reviewed and improved to ensure that it continues to add value. It is suitable for quality managers, top management, audit managers, or the personnel responsible for design and implementation of the audit process. It includes discussion of best practice approach and methodology for:

  • Introducing the audit process as a value adding process to the people within the organization
  • How to obtain buy-in from top management and buy-in from the management of the audited processes
  • Developing and managing an effective audit programme
  • Cost-effective audit resource planning and allocation
  • Effective selection of auditors and evaluation of auditor training
  • Auditors conduct (best practice)
  • Audit reporting process
  • Effectiveness of corrective and preventive action processes
  • Monitoring of the audit process
  • Measuring the effectiveness of the audit process

This course is offered as a one-day or a two-day option depending on the organization's objectives and preference, and the stage of development of the internal audit process.

Project and product inspections

The CQI is also able to provide both project and product technical inspections courses to suit specific customer needs. Courses related to product liability can also be delivered.

A manager's guide to ISO 9001:2000

This course introduces the management team to the structure and requirements of ISO 9001:2000 in an easily understood format. The principles set out in ISO 9004:2000 are also covered to support delegates' understanding.

Process design and documentation

This course provides an overview of process design and documentation. It focuses on understanding the structure of a process, the development of process maps and supporting instructional documentation. Task analysis is also included to support the development of instructional documents.

Balanced scorecard

This course takes delegates through the basic philosophy of the balanced scorecard and provides an understanding of how best to use it within their own organization.

Best practice complaints management

Learn about a best practice approach to enquiry, problem and complaints management. Assess your own approach against best practice to identify opportunities for improvement in your organization.

Corporate social responsibility

The CQI can deliver a number of bespoke courses on corporate social responsibility ranging from half-day introductory courses to more comprehensive one-day and two-day courses that address various ethical standards, their importance and relevance to the organization, auditing and impact on suppliers and subcontractors.

Business improvement workshops

The CQI has developed a number of business improvement workshops that are specifically designed for people with direct responsibility for helping the business to improve and increase results. They will be of particular interest to professionals who perform the role of internal consultants working in areas that include business improvement and quality.

Quality - soft management skills

A one-day workshop for the quality team to help them find ways to improve the motivation of colleagues at all levels in playing their part in continual improvement. This is a follow-up to the two-day 'engaging people in business improvement' course. Content will depend on the challenges and priorities of the specific organization.

Quality and senior management

The CQI is able to lead a workshop dedicated to the board. This expert workshop is designed around the key strategic functions in an organization and focuses on quality philosophy and its relevance to those functions. The workshop will also provide practical examples and techniques to take this forward in the organization.

Error risk reduction - core team development

A programme of classroom and practical, project-based activities to help develop your in-house capability to:

  • Proactively identify adverse influences that increase risk of human error
  • Increase awareness of avoidable causes of error
  • Facilitate error reduction activities

Error risk reduction programmes are tailored to each organization's specific needs and usually take from five to seven working days. Additional modules are available to address specific issues and sustain further development of the core team's capability.

Error risk reduction - management team orientation*

A one-day programme for management teams to explore their own organization's vulnerability to human error and the effectiveness of current efforts to avoid it.

Management skills

This participative programme covers all the topics that are vital for the management and motivation of a team. The course includes motivation strategies, team building, delegation and communication skills. Emphasis is placed on achieving results through other people. Participants will learn how to develop their management style, gain greater confidence and feel empowered to manage more effectively.

Advanced presentation techniques

This stimulating and practical course enables speakers with previous public speaking experience to review, upgrade and revitalize their existing presentation skills. Through personal feedback, participants will learn to generate more enthusiasm and energy in their delivery and identify where their performance can be improved. Participants will also learn how to exploit their own personality and use a natural conversational style to deliver a powerful business message.

Making successful presentations

This intensive workshop covers all the essential skills involved in presenting, from preparation and planning through to delivery. It is designed to build confidence and self-assurance through providing a complete understanding of effective speaking principles and utilizing a highly practical and participative approach. Individual feedback and the use of CCTV accelerate learning and enable participants to assess their performance and measure progress.

Mentoring skills for executives

This workshop aims to enhance executives' skills as mentors, using a range of theories, models and current research.

Developing quality through mentoring: two-day workshop

In our current service economy, which is mostly people based, we need to look at new ways to develop staff effectively and enable them to be successful in their work.

This course provides a complete picture of the mentoring role, and equips delegates with the skills to develop individuals within their workforce. It explores the differences between acting as a mentor, versus the role of the coach. The course is based on psychological research and will give participants time to explore the links between quality and workforce development.

The impact of stress on quality: one-day workshop

Most organizations recognize that their staff's performance is a critical success factor. But one in three people suffer from stress in the workplace which greatly affects a person's ability to do their job and on the quality of service they can deliver.

This workshop aims to understand the effects of stress on performance and provide ways of managing stress on both a personal and professional level. The workshop concludes with a range of practical skills for improving performance, and the links between people, quality and organizational success are explored. The course is evidence based, and uses current research and theories.
