This course provides delegates with an in-depth knowledge of the ISO 14000 series of standards. It develops delegates’ understanding of the purpose and requirements of ISO 14001:2004 and the skills required to effectively plan, conduct and report effective environmental management system (EMS) audits, in accordance with ISO 19011:2002 guidelines for QMS/EMS auditing.

Course content

  • understand the purpose and requirements of the ISO 14000:2004 series of standards
  • understand the importance of an effective EMS as a management tool
  • implement and manage EMS audit programmes covering first, second and third party audits
  • plan, conduct, report and follow up effective EMS audits in accordance with ISO 19011:2002 guidelines
  • utilisation of the audit process as an effective business tool for continual improvement of an EMS
