Occupational health & safety management systems auditor/lead auditor conversion
A 3-day conversion course for existing auditors/lead auditors
The aim of this course is to provide existing auditors with the knowledge and skills required to perform audits of occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS) based on the latest version of OHSAS 18001, and in accordance with the guidelines provided in ISO 19011:2002.
The focus of the course is on auditing the effectiveness of an OHSMS through the correct interpretation of OHSAS 18001, legislative and regulatory requirements and by evaluating business operational processes risks.
Course content
- OHSMS principles and identification, and assessment of the impact of health and safety processes and operations
- the purpose, content and requirements of OHSAS 18001 and its inter-relationship with other managements systems
- identification and maintenance of legislative and regulatory requirements
- risk analysis and operational risk control
- emergency preparedness and response management
- continual improvement process of OHSMSs
- review of the requirements of OHSMS auditing in accordance with ISO 19011:2002
Who should attend?
Professionals who have already attended a lead auditor course and who wish to understand a management system approach to occupational health and safety performance, and the skills required to audit OHSMSs effectively.

Pre-course requirements
Delegates must have:
- attended an IRCA certified (equivalent) 5-day lead auditor course in QMS, FSMS or EMS
- relevant work experience
- an understanding of the principles of risk management
- familiarity with relevant health and safety legislation and good practice guides
