Food safety management systems auditor/lead auditor conversion

A 3-day conversion course for existing auditors/lead auditors

The purpose of this course is to provide existing auditors with an understanding of ISO 22000:2005, and to gain the knowledge and skills required for the design, implementation and improvement capability of food safety management systems.

It will enable an undertaking of food safety management system audits, based on best practice guidelines provided in ISO 19011:2002.

Course content

  • food safety management system principles, processes and techniques used for the assessment and management of food safety hazards
  • the purpose, content and requirements of ISO 22000:2005 and its inter-relationship with other international standards and food industry practices and guides
  • identification and maintenance of legislative and regulatory requirements
  • risk analysis and operational risk control
  • emergency preparedness and response management
  • continual improvement processes of food safety management systems
  • review of food safety management system auditing in accordance with ISO 19011:2002

Who should attend?

Food safety professionals who have already attended a management system lead auditor course, but who need an understanding of a management system approach to food safety. Also, those who need the skills required to audit food safety management systems.

Pre-course requirements

Delegates must have:

  • attended an IRCA certified (equivalent) 5-day lead auditor course in QMS, EMS or OH&SMS
  • work experience within the food industry
  • an understanding of HACCP principles and food safety pre-requisites programmes
  • familiarity of relevant key food safety legislation and good practice guides
